On the 18 of March 2024, UThukela district Municipality hosted water indaba to address the imminent water challenges at Apex Boutique Hotel, Inkosi Langalibalele Local Municipality. The main purpose of the event was to explore innovative ideas to address challenges that are facing the district.

UThukela District officials from different departments especially in the water sector to were present to deliberate on strategies to accelerate water supply to the communities. They looked at water losses that has a dominant effect in the city and solutions on how to tickle those water challenges, which aims to ensure availability of, and sustainable management of water and sanitation for all.

This Water Indaba is part of the efforts by the newly appointed Municipal Manager Mr Langelihle Jili of amicable addressing Water challenges to ensure that the people of UThukela District urgently gets access to clean water and dignified sanitation.

His Worship the Honourable Mayor of uThukela District, Mayor INkosi CIIr NB Shabalala officially opened the Water Indaba and gave a mandate and expected results of this Indaba. He touched on the matter that workers do not attend such important events and how this will lead to the people of uThukela district saying he fails them.
