Published by MeD8 Media, based in Pretoria and operating nationally, Student Living South Africa serves as a hands-on training platform for journalism students. Through our programme, final-year journalism students gain valuable, real-world experience while building their professional portfolios. This initiative ensures students are published in a credible newspaper adhering to the Press Council of South Africa’s Code of Ethics and as an active member of the Association of Independent Publishers (AIP).
The vision behind Student Living South Africa is to bridge the gap between academic learning and professional journalism. By enabling students to create content for their peers, we foster a culture of collaboration, credibility, and growth. Our mission extends beyond journalism students, with a long-term goal to integrate students from disciplines like marketing, graphic design, and communications into the publication.
Founded by Christopher Mcinga, the publication initially began as a print newspaper. It has since evolved into a digital-first platform, with an option for print on demand, ensuring adaptability in the modern media landscape. Our ultimate aim is to partner with universities nationwide through Memorandums of Understanding, creating a sustainable ecosystem where students can gain practical experience while delivering trustworthy news to their peers.
