Rapper and TV presenter Jub Jub, whose real name is Molemo Maarohanye, recently made a brief court appearance following charges related to rape, attempted murder, and assault in a series of alleged incidences that took place between 2006 and 20009.

In pursuit to clear his name, he handed himself over to the authorities last year and appeared in the Johannesburg Magistrates’ Court, where he was released on a R10 000 bail. The TV presenter’s alleged crimes are reported to have involved four victims.

One of them was actress, Amanda Du Pont, former Skeem Saam actor who first accused her ex-boyfriend, Jub Jub of having previously admitted to rapping her in an Instragram video clip she had made.On Thursday, Jub Jub returned to court where he was relieved to discover that the state withdrew all criminal charges against him.

According to National Prosecuting Authority (NPA), Phindi Mjonondwana said “The officer of the DPP concluded that there are no reasonable prospects of the successful prosecution. As a result, the sensible thing to do was to withdraw the charges of rape, attempted murder and assault against Maarohanye”.“I am over the moon,” Maarohanye told the media after his charged were withdrawn.

He also expressed his gratitude to his family, legal team, and everyone who supported him through the whole case.Facebook users have expressed their feeling towards the decision made by the NPA.

One user said “Men go through a lot in this country.”Another one said “Now he must sue them…defamation of character. He must make them pay.”Some internet users rejoices as the rapper got cleared of his charges, while others were not too happy about the outcome of the case.
