In a recent Instagram live session, DJ Maphorisa, a well-known music producer, shared his straightforward view on music ownership. He made it clear that he doesn’t care much about who came up with a track, for him, if it’s recorded in his studio, it’s his. In his words, “When you record music in my computer, in my studio, in my home, in my electricity, that song is mine.” This sheds light on an interesting aspect of music creation, where the studio itself plays a key role in determining ownership.
