In the Department of Education, KwaZulu-Natal, the provincial leadership has issued a directive urging schools to dismiss students and staff early due to adverse weather conditions. It has been reported that weather forecasts predict the likelihood of heavy rainfall and thunderstorms, hence the need for an early dismissal. The spokesperson for the department, Mr. Muzi Mahlambi, stated that schools and workplaces should release students and employees promptly following the weather forecasts indicating the possibility of strong rainfall. He mentioned that this directive was issued by the head of the department, Mr. Nkosinathi Ngcobo, after consulting with weather experts who confirmed the anticipated heavy rainfall. He emphasized that all school leaders should ensure the early release of students, especially those in the first grades, ahead of the expected heavy rainfall.
