Upon returning home without job prospects in his field, Makatu temporarily set aside his degree and volunteered nearby. This experience opened his eyes to the entrepreneurial opportunities available, leading him to pursue his own business.

Although he lacks a professional background outside of entrepreneurship and psychology, Makatu has engaged in various ventures, including selling iPhones and renting out hookahs to clubs and restaurants. He has collaborated with notable figures such as the musician Sjava and IT company E-4, among others.

In addition to candles, Makatu’s company offers snuff, candle holders, incense (impepho), sea salt, and incense sticks. His best-selling candle is gold, believed to attract wealth, while his personal favorite is the moneyfesting candle, a blend of gold and white with a vanilla fragrance.
