On the 10th of May 2024 in Alberton area at 6:30, the Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Police Department (EMPD) Alberton Precinct Officers, responded to motorcycle crash at the corner of Potgieter and Bentonite.

When the Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Police Department (EMPD) arrived at the incident they found a 51-year-old male rider covered in a space blanket next to a crashed silver/grey Toyota Hilux Light Delivery Vehicle (LDV), a front smashed green Kawasaki motorcycle.

According to the medical expert found at the incident, the 51-year-old man was declared dead and there was another 58-years-old male LDV drive who was alone in the bakkie during the crash and he was treated for shock by the paramedics. The cause of the accident is unknown, and the matter is under investigations. With the ongoing investigation it was revealed that the Toyota Hilux Light Delivery Vehicle travelling Potgieter road, turned in front of an oncoming motorcycle man and this led to the accident.

“A culpable homicide case has been registered at the Bracken police station and no arrests was made as the matter is still under investigation,” said the Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Police Department (EMPD) Spokesperson Lt Colonel.
