The Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Police Department(EMPD) and Social Crime Prevention Unit(SCPU) Officers in conjunction with other law enforcement agencies, paraded at Putfontein police station to conduct a school search at Putfontein Primary School on Tuesday, 30 April 20024 at 07:00.

According to Lt Colonel Spokesperson Kelebogile Thepa said that the officers proceed to the school in a convoy to engage learners on safety at schools. “All learners were summoned outside of their classrooms, while officers started searching every school bag on their desk. Officers also conducted a body search on
every learner.”

She further explain that among the sinister items confiscated were scissors, gambling cards, pain tablets, and cellphones and those items were booked at the Putfontein police station. “Officers also took the opportunity to talk of gangsterism, bullying and teenage pregnancy and explain to learners on the consequences of carrying dangerous weapon at school.’’

Furthermore, the operation will be carried throughout the City of Ekurhuleni (Coe), as
the EMPD welcomes their partnership with other stakeholders to ensure safer schools.
