Siya Kolisi, captain of the South African National Rugby Team the Springboks, and his wife, Rachel Kolisi, have announced their separation after eight years of marriage. The couple shared the news on their respective Instagram accounts on Tuesday afternoon, stating that their decision came after “much reflection and open conversations.”

In their statements, they expressed, “We have mutually decided to end our marriage. This decision comes from a place of love, respect, and understanding that this is the best path forward for both of us.”

Despite the separation, the couple affirmed that their strong friendship would remain intact. They emphasized their commitment to co-parenting their two children with the same love and care they have always provided.

The Kolisis also plan to continue their collaborative efforts through the Kolisi Foundation, an initiative that holds great significance for them. “We are grateful for the love, understanding, and support you have shown us, and we kindly ask for your respect as we navigate this transition,” they added in their message.
