By Makuwa Felicia

The blind author, Calvin Kamogelo Mogajane, who was born with glaucoma that led to him being blind was born in Phokoane, Limpopo currently residing in Soshanguve. Calvin Mogajane launched his book on Tuesday, the 12th of September, at Tshwane University of Technology in Block L. At 25 years old, he has written his third book titled Strong Woman.

His first book, “Sebatakgomo,” published in 2014, is a collection of short stories. The second book, “Mpepumpepu,” published in 2014, is a collection of Sepedi poems. He explained that both the books were written by him with the help of his twin brother Edwin, who is fully sighted.

“Strong Woman” is a story inspired by a woman who was strong and patient in the polygamous marriage. He explains that the book is inspired by the hardships that his mother had endured as she was born in a polygamous marriage and married into one. He said that the book highlights the challenges his mother went through.

“The book is about the polygamy family and different dynamics that come into play and the polygamous marriages. It is also about the patriarchy and the length that the males are willing to go to satiate themselves regardless of the damage caused to people close to them”, said Calvin.

He added that he wrote this book by himself using special software in his laptop.
