Telkom Foundation proudly announces its sponsorship of the 2024 SchoolNet SA conference, currently taking place from 25 March – 27 March 2024, at the Anton Lembede MST Academy in Ethekwini.
SchoolNet SA, a longstanding partner of Telkom Foundation, has been at the forefront of providing ICT training and support to teachers and learners across Foundation schools. The conference, a hallmark event in the education sector for the past twenty-six years, was paused during the pandemic but is now set to resume in a physical format.
The event aims to facilitate discussions on effective technology integration for learning, teaching, and advancing conversations about the fourth Industrial Revolution.
Telkom Foundation’s sponsorship aligns seamlessly with its strategic focus on leveraging technology to enhance educational programs. By supporting the conference, Telkom Foundation aims to provide educators with a platform to learn, connect, and share their experiences in integrating technology into education.
Additionally, the sponsorship underscores Telkom Foundation’s commitment to professional development for teachers and contributes to excellence in the integration of technology in teaching and learning.
Approximately 500 delegates are expected to attend the conference, including educators, school leaders, facilitators, and representatives from district, provincial, and national Education Departments.
The event, organized in collaboration with the KwaZulu-Natal Department of Education and supported by the Department of Basic Education, will feature a Digital Playground Exhibition Space where vendors can display their digital resources to delegates.
“This sponsorship reflects Telkom Foundation’s dedication to advancing digital literacy and supporting educators in their journey towards integrating technology into teaching and learning,” said Judy Vilakazi, Head of the Telkom Foundation. “We believe that by empowering teachers with the tools and knowledge they need, we can create a brighter future for learners across South Africa.”
Sandlile Mofokeng, who is also a part of the foundation, said, “Teachers from Telkom’s project schools will have the opportunity to showcase their ICT integration practices, promoting exposure to a wider network of educators and facilitating knowledge exchange.”
Telkom Foundation encourages all stakeholders in the education sector to join hands in driving innovation and excellence in digital education.
