The Tshwane Metro Police Department (TMPD) is working hard to keep people safe in Tshwane by dealing with the problem of illegal spaza shops selling old food. They’ve already closed down some shops that weren’t following the rules.Recently, the head of TMPD led an operation in Lotus Garden after people complained about a strange drink being sold in some shops.
It turned out to be a mix of Coca Cola and something else, which upset the community. With the help of the Department of Health, TMPD checked these shops and found old food that had to be thrown away. They also found that four shops didn’t have the right permits to operate, so they were closed until they sorted it out.Samples of the drinks were taken for testing to make sure they were safe.
TMPD promised to keep investigating these shops and work closely with the Department of Health to make sure people in Tshwane are safe from expired food. This shows that TMPD is serious about stopping the sale of old food, and they’ll keep working with others to make sure it doesn’t happen again.
