The film that encourages voting has been screened, titled “Penelope: Beacon of light in the Darkness,” which tackles the issue of councilors and community leaders being assassinated and oppressed in different regions.
In this game, meant to be broadcast on SABC 1 over time, it instills in people a sense of awareness of
their rights, then motivates them to come out in large numbers to vote for their beloved government on May 29. This film’s protagonist, a renowned figure in the community, was unveiled at a legal gathering at the Indoor Sports Centre in Melmoth over the weekend.
Among the players performing in the familiar setting were Noxolo Dlamini and Nondumiso Dladla. The cast members who graced the stage at the sports center were drawn from the television drama program, “The Destiny,” on e.tv, featuring Pastor Mjosty and Hlengiwe Mavimbela who played MaHlomu in The Wife, as well as Simunye Church Boy, who played a crucial role in the film.
The writer and director of this film, produced in collaboration between KH Films and Two Grounds Holdings, Siphakamiso Gumede, stated that with “Penelope,” they were able to enlighten the community by addressing issues at the grassroots level when there is a need for development. He emphasized that they were able to create job opportunities in the communities under Mthonjaneni Municipality through this film.
“We have created job opportunities, but we have also managed to tackle the issue of unemployment
in Mthonjaneni. That’s why we are considering opening a cultural school to nurture talent. We will continue to work with Mthonjaneni Municipality to empower people, especially the youth
in this area, to fight for their dreams,” said Gumede.
Siphakamiso commended the municipality’s leaders, particularly Mayor Mbangiseni Biyela, Community Services Manager Nonkonzo Khali, and Communication and Marketing Manager Thando
Mhlongo. As a senior figure in the municipality, Zipho Mthethwa suggested that this film be used as a tool for educating and motivating their community members to vote. He proposed that they move forward by educating young people with knowledge and job opportunities.
