Kolisi foundation joins hands with Add Hope to end starvation

Following the 14 year success story of the Add Hope charity initiative, KFC has partnered with yet another impactful organization that has been working tirelessly to ensure that they make a difference in the country, the Kolisi Foundation. For July, Add Hope will generously give all their funds received from the donors of the R2’s; to the Kolisi Foundation to ensure that many more disadvantaged South Africans benefits from their work through their “Indlala to Dlala (from hunger to play)” partnership.

In addition, KFC will match this by donating a sum of their profits as well. Speaking about what made the Kolisi Foundation the perfect partner for this initiative,
Grant Macpherson, KFC Africa’s Chief Marketing Officer explained that Siya’s lifestyle of poverty while growing up was a big determining factor. This since the Springbok captain has first-hand experience of what it feels like to earn or go to bed on an empty stomach.“I find it deeply moving when Siya speaks about his early years in Zwide. The work he and Rachel do through their foundation is a perfect fit with Add Hope as we move
through a cold dark winter,” he said.

Meanwhile, Rachel Kolisi, wife to the Springbok captain and CEO of the Kolisi Foundation shared these sentiments. “When Siya and I set up the foundation in March 2020, the areas we wanted to focus on included food security, education, and sport, as well as gender-based violence,” said Rachel

She further explained that these are all areas where KFC does incredible work, so she is delighted to partner with Add Hope in relieving the hunger and malnutrition that affects nearly one in four South African households. It is said that the Kolisi Foundation will use the funds received from Add Hope to bolster
its effort to ensure food security and promote education through nutrition. These funds will go towards providing breakfast to more than 4 000 children from six schools in Siya’s hometown Zwide in Gqeberha, as well as nutritious meals to those participating
in after school programmes.

Rachel and Siya have also had the opportunity to sit down with many children and university students who have benefitted from Add Hope and were privileged to hear their testimonies. With their foundation being relatively young, her desire for the next 10 years is that many more people are given the same opportunities and resources that are closer to home and that communities will benefit from it to live better lives.
