In commemoration of Women’s Month and in an effort to empower women, the Laudium Care Service for the Aged hosted a Women’s Day celebration on Thursday, August 8, at 1st Avenue, Laudium.
The event began with various exercises led by Ashla Naidoo, who introduced arm exercises to keep the blood flowing for the elders. The celebration featured numerous speakers, including Adilla Osman, who encouraged women by saying, “We need to embrace change and see the positive in any change that we go through, as this will give us a sense of purpose in life.” She emphasized that not only women but everyone should maintain relationships with women and focus on physical and mental health.
The event continued with the women participating in energizing exercises and enjoying a song by Suno Negam called “Pretty Woman.” Sharing her excitement, Zaaibon Ally, who attended the event, said, “I wish such events could be held every day. It is so nice seeing people appreciate you for just being you.”
To conclude the event, Dr. Iman Mukadam spoke about the importance of living a healthy lifestyle and how adapting to this lifestyle can improve one’s well-being over time. The event ended on a high note with women being treated to a delicious vegetable meal.
