The wait is nearly over for South Africa’s matric candidates. The Department of Basic Education (DBE) has confirmed the release dates for the 2024 National Senior Certificate (NSC) results, with students across the country eagerly anticipating the announcement.
On 13 January 2025, Minister of Basic Education Siviwe Gwarube will officially announce the matric results at a national level. The following day, on 14 January 2025, students will be able to access their results from 6:00 AM. These will be available online via the DBE website (www.education.gov.za) and at schools or examination centres where students can collect their physical statement of results.
For those opting to access their results online, the Department has worked to ensure the process runs smoothly. However, students should be prepared for possible delays due to high traffic on the website and remain patient if technical issues arise.
Students are also advised to carefully review their statements of results for any errors, such as incorrect names or identity numbers. If discrepancies are found, these must be reported to the DBE before 21 February 2025 to allow for corrections. Additionally, any concerns or queries regarding results should be submitted within 30 days of the release date for investigation.
Receiving matric results is a significant milestone, marking the transition into the next phase of life. Whether students plan to further their studies, join the workforce, or explore alternative opportunities, this is a time to reflect and make important decisions. For those who may not achieve the results they hoped for, supplementary exams and other pathways remain available.
The DBE wishes all matric candidates success as they prepare to take their next steps.
