Thousands of students have applied for National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS) funding for 2025, but the bursary scheme has issued a stern warning: failure to submit the required documents could lead to their applications being invalidated.
NSFAS provides financial assistance to eligible students enrolled in approved courses at universities and TVET colleges, covering tuition, registration fees, and allowances for food, accommodation, and learning materials. However, applicants have been given just 30 days to upload their supporting documents, starting from the date of the request.
“Applicants must urgently submit their outstanding documents, or their applications will be deemed invalid,” said NSFAS.
To upload documents, students must log into their myNSFAS account, navigate to the Document Upload Section, prepare and upload the necessary documents, and submit them. Applicants can later check their application status on the portal.
The required documents vary depending on the student’s circumstances. These include forms completed by school principals, social workers, or medical professionals to confirm details such as guardianship or disability status. Court-issued documents may also be needed in some cases. SASSA grant beneficiaries, however, are exempt from submitting supporting documents.
NSFAS emphasized that applications will only be finalized once all documents are verified. Students are urged to act promptly to ensure their funding for the 2025 academic year.
