A Nigerian man suspected of drug dealing was nabbed by the members of the Tshwane Metro Police Department (TMPD), Drug Unit on Monday, March 11.
The arrest took place at Olievenhoutbosch, Centurion, in Pretoria.
The suspect, a 35-year-old Nigerian national, was reportedly caught in possession of a significant quantity of drugs.
According to the statement released by the TMPD drug unit, approximately 1700 mandrax tablets and 100 packets of nyaope were discovered in the suspect’s possession.
“The estimated street value of the seized drugs is reported to be around R175,000,” said TMPD spokesperson Isaac Mahamba.
Mahamba further said that upon apprehension, the TMPD drug unit swiftly took the suspect into custody.
He is currently being held at a local police station awaiting further legal proceedings.
It is expected that he will be scheduled to appear in court soon, to face charges related to drug dealing and possession.
