Corona Virus has led the University of Pretoria to award qualifications in absentia through a virtual graduation ceremony
Due to the COVID19 virus and national lockdown, the graduation ceremony that was to be held on the 7 April to 8 May. University of Pretoria (UP) Vice-Chancellor and Principal Professor Tawana Kupe held a virtual graduation ceremony on Monday 6 April 2020 were 11 000 degrees, diplomas and certificates were awarded to students in absentia.
The graduates will receive a congratulatory video message from the Vice-Chancellor and a faculty’s graduation programme. These will be presented with the originally scheduled graduation ceremony date.
Students will receive a printed certificate later this year. Students that are in the need of their certificates sooner, will be informed about the process after the national lockdown has been lifted by our president.
