A dynamic young entrepreneur from Limpopo, Ga Molepo, whose innovative spirit and dedication to excellence inspire a new generation of business leaders.
Boitumelo Chuene (25), who is a student at Tshwane University of Technology, decided to start her own business in 2021. She named it Boity’s Lifestyle Events, whereby she decorates for birthday parties, picnics, and photoshoots.
She always wanted to start a business but was scared of failure. However, in 2020, during her 21st birthday celebration, she and her sister, Lebogang Chuene, decided to do the décor themselves. This experience gave her the confidence to pursue her business, which is now flourishing.
Boitumelo started advertising her work on WhatsApp and believed that documenting her work would attract more attention. Social media has played a significant role in helping her discover her talent in handwork.
Thembry Mogotlane, who is the owner of Simple Solution Graphics, also motivated her, as she saw his successful business as inspiration to push her own. Boitumelo said “I have good and supportive people around me who always support me.”
Boitumelo’s business mainly aims to support families, so she mostly works with family members like her sister Lebogang, Thembry, and Pabalelo. In addition to decoration services, Boitumelo also sells gift hampers, perfumes, body lotions, and hand lotions from Villa products. She began selling perfumes in 2022 and found success when selling to her housemates, prompting her to expand the business.
“Extraordinary décor from the best, we bring your ideas and dreams into reality,” says Boitumelo, emphasizing her slogan. She adds that her prices are affordable, catering to 60% students and 40% older individuals.
Boitumelo has always dreamed of owning her own small business and is passionate about designing and decorating. She expanded her reach to social networks like Facebook, Instagram, and TikTok when she noticed her work gaining viral recognition from many people.
