Winter is a season where everyone needs warmth, and the City of Tshwane has made sure that every received both warmth and comfort this winter by doing a Winter Distribution Programme to support its community.
The Winter Distribution Programme aims to assist five centres, including facilities for children with disabilities, elderly citizens and homeless shelter for women, men, and children and the blankets were donated to those centres as they face a challenge during winter.
“We visited the Via Nova School for learners with Educational Challenges in East Lynne (Region 5), where 100 blankets were handed over to beneficiaries. And I also participated in a sewing lesson with the leaners,” said Councillor Nasiphi Moya.
The blanket drive also visited Togetherness Senior Citizen Club in Nellmapius (Region 6), the Uthando Elderly Care Centre in Ekangala (Region 7), where elders received blankets, the homeless Upliftment Centre for men in Sunnyside and the Kitso Lesedi Women and Children’s centre in Arcadia (Region 3) were provided with blankets.
This programme is part of the City’s ongoing efforts to make a positive impact on the lives of the community members who are in need especially during challenging times like winter seasons.
