Matric results mark the end of years of hard work and the start of your next journey. Checking your results quickly and easily is important as you plan your future. Here’s how you can access your results and what to do next.

Checking Your Matric Results Online

You can view your results through the Department of Basic Education (DBE) website or the official DBE mobile app.

  • DBE Website: Visit www.education.gov.za and enter your ID and exam numbers.
  • DBE App: Download the app from your smartphone’s app store. Register using your ID and exam numbers, then log in to view your results.

The DBE app is secure and handles high traffic efficiently. Make sure you have a stable internet connection.

Checking Results via SMS

If you don’t have internet access, use the SMS service:

  1. Send your 13-digit ID number and exam number to 35658.
  2. You’ll receive a confirmation and, shortly after, your results.

This service charges a small fee, so ensure you have sufficient airtime.

Queries About Results

If you notice errors or have concerns about your results:

  • Contact Your School: Schools can liaise with the DBE on your behalf.
  • Request a Re-check/Re-mark: Apply through your school or DBE within the given timeframe.
  • Report Errors: Incorrect names or ID numbers should be reported to the DBE immediately.

What’s Next After Matric?

Your results are a significant milestone, but they’re just the start. Here are three main options:

  1. Further Studies:
    • Enrol in a certificate, diploma, or degree programme depending on your results and interests.
    • Options include full-time, part-time, or distance learning.
  2. Start Working:
    • Explore entry-level jobs or internships in fields of interest. This allows you to gain experience and understand potential career paths.
  3. Take a Gap Year:
    • Use this time productively by volunteering, travelling, or taking short courses. Ensure you have a clear plan to maintain focus.

Choosing the Right Career Path

Choosing a career can be overwhelming. Follow these steps to guide your decision:

  • List your interests and skills.
  • Research careers that align with your strengths and passions.
  • Consider job stability and future prospects in your chosen field.

Whether you pursue further education, start working, or explore your options during a gap year, make choices that align with your long-term goals and personal interests.

Your matric results are a stepping stone to a bright future—take this moment to celebrate your achievements and start planning your journey ahead.
