The South African Police Service (SAPS) has confirmed that a mass shooting occurred at a local tavern in Tshwane, resulting in 15 injuries. The incident took place on Sunday night in Soshanguve, a northern suburb of Pretoria. An unidentified suspect entered the tavern and indiscriminately opened fire.
Upon receiving the call, the police swiftly responded and found several individuals with gunshot wounds. They were immediately transported to a local clinic and hospital for medical attention. Constable Rakhatla Thekiso stated, “The suspect entered the tavern while patrons were consuming alcohol and, without uttering a word, began shooting at random.”
At this stage, the motive behind the shooting remains unknown. The police have initiated an investigation and opened a case with 15 counts of attempted murder.
