Radio personality and founder of the Crown Gospel Music Awards, Zanele Mbokazi-Nkambule, has passed away. Her family announced her death on Monday, August 12, 2024, at Parklands Hospital in Durban, KwaZulu-Natal, in the early hours of the morning after battling lung cancer.
Earlier this year, Bishop Nkambule and Ukhozi FM business manager Sbongi Ngcobo announced that Zanele Mbokazi-Nkambule had been diagnosed with lung cancer. This announcement followed her absence from the airwaves.
Zanele Mbokazi, a well-known South African figure, sadly passed away recently. She was a beloved personality, widely recognized for her contributions to the media and entertainment industry. Many admired her for her talent, charisma, and dedication to her work.
Zanele started her career in media at a young age and quickly became a household name. She was known for her role as a presenter, connecting with many people across the country. Her passion and love for the industry shone through in everything she did.
“We are grateful for all the prayers, love, and support we received throughout her illness. The family would appreciate privacy as we navigate this challenging time,” said her husband, Bishop Mpendulo Nkambule, in a statement.
The famous choir group Joyous Celebration posted on X: “We’re deeply saddened by the loss of Mam’Zanele Mbokazi, a devoted woman of God and an inspiration to many. As the Joyous Celebration family, we extend our heartfelt condolences to her loved ones. Her passing leaves a profound impact; may she rest in eternal peace,” they posted.
