In a match between Chillie Boys FC and Pretoria North FC, the teams played out a thrilling 4-2 penalty shootout at Shaka Stadium, Soshanguve Block VV, on Saturday at 11:30.
The Mukalanga Foundation Winter Games, held at Shaka Stadium in Soshanguve Block VV, accommodated four teams, including Chillie Boys FC and Pretoria North FC. The match ended with penalties, leaving Chillie Boys FC with 4 and Pretoria North FC with 2 (4-2).
The action started early, with Chillie Boys FC pressing hard from the kickoff. Their efforts paid off in the 15th minute (11:45) when Mogorosi struck a powerful shot from the edge of the box, beating Pretoria North’s goalkeeper, Frank Moselane.
Chillie Boys FC continued to dominate, with Kenneth and Mapo posing constant threats down the flanks.
Pretoria North FC, however, found their rhythm. In the second half at 12:23, Brandon showcased his brilliance. The first half ended with Chillie Boys FC leading 1-0 against Pretoria North FC, setting the stage for an exciting second half.
Penalties took place at 13:05. The drama continued into the penalty shootout. Pretoria North FC went first, with Brandon confidently scoring. Kenneth from Chillie Boys FC followed. The shootout saw good penalties from both sides until the fifth round.
The standout players were Kenneth from Chillie Boys FC, with his creativity and leadership, and their goalkeeper, jersey number 16, along with the team captain Kayiso Setsiba, jersey number 10.
A Chillie Boys FC supporter, MaFroza, commented on the game, saying, “I am proud of my boys today. We are very happy; they played very well and won an honest game. It was not like the last game, but today I am very happy for them, and I am very proud. I just pray the Lord gives them power to carry on until the finals.”
Kayiso Setsiba, Captain of Chillie Boys FC, also commented, “Today’s game was tough. I thought we were going to lose, but we managed to fight till the end. Today was a bit difficult because we don’t usually go to the gym as often, but we did well as a team.”
The clash between Chillie Boys FC and Pretoria North FC was a showcase of good football, with both teams displaying exceptional skill and determination. The 1-1 draw, followed by the penalty score of Chillie Boys 3-1 Pretoria North FC, led to the final score of 4-2.
