The provincial cabinet includes representatives from the African National Congress, the Inkatha Freedom Party, Rise Mzansi, and the Patriotic Alliance.
Lesufi noted that other political groups chose to operate within the Gauteng Provincial Legislature instead of joining the GPU.The GPU was formed due to no party achieving a majority in the National and Provincial Elections in May.
The Premier highlighted that despite the MECs coming from various parties, they are united in their commitment to serve the people of Gauteng.“We accept the election results and the will of our electorate, which mandates all political parties to collaborate in governing our province. In this endeavor, we must remain mature, calm, and understanding. This is a new experience for us, an opportunity provided by our voters”, he said.
“We’ve been tasked to work together, and we will. We’ve been asked to pool our ideas for a better Gauteng, and we will do so together. We’ve been asked to ensure no one is left behind, and we declare today that no one will be left behind unless they choose not to be part of the GPU”, said Lesufi.
“I want to stress this: no door is closed. This door will always remain open, and anyone who wishes to join the GPU will be welcome,” he said.
