Get ready to rethink your exercise routine and discover a whole new way to stay fit, no matter where life takes you.
At just 28 years old, Nompumelelo Zulu is empowering women worldwide through WhatsApp. Originally from Orlando East, Soweto, she’s breaking boundaries by creating virtual fitness communities accessible to women everywhere.
“I am someone who values physical fitness. In the past, my friends and I used to work out together, but due to work commitments, we were separated. That’s when I came up with the idea of creating a WhatsApp group so we could exercise together no matter where we are. Leveraging social media to promote oneself is crucial,” explained Nompumelelo Zulu.
She highlighted that the COVID-19 pandemic further emphasized the importance of virtual communication, making WhatsApp an ideal platform for maintaining fitness routines while adhering to stay-at-home orders. Nompumelelo emphasized the significance of having a specific fitness goal, whether it’s maintaining overall health, losing weight, or other objectives.
Stressing the health benefits of exercise, she urged participants to prioritize hydration and nutritious eating habits to combat obesity-related diseases like high blood pressure, diabetes, osteoporosis, and cancer.
One of the participants, Mbali Mazibuko, shared her perspective on the importance of exercise in her daily life. She highlighted its positive effects on heart health, skin quality, and overall well-being, encouraging women not to be discouraged by initial challenges. “Exercise is a lifestyle that should be embraced daily,” she said. Mbali emphasized the need for patience and consistency in exercise routines, advising against quick discouragement. She emphasized the importance of maintaining a balanced diet alongside physical activity for optimal health outcomes.
