A 34 year old Musician from Durban, KwaZulu-Natal Sibongiseni Zikhali, is planning to use the power of his music to raise awareness about the prevalence of violence against women and children, and hold a concert.
This musician will stage a concert on April 19 at the Playhouse in Durban, aiming to promote the Prayer Project by erecting awareness of gender based violence and children abuse.
He chooses to organize this event because his heart is deeply troubled by the alarming rates of violence against people in South Africa. Believing that music has a strong potential to change the apparent state of distress in the community, Zikhali wants to use the concert to address this issue.
“The way in which violence against people is escalating poses questions. I believe that on this day, as we turn to God with this problem, there is something He can do about it,” he says.
He also speaks about the violence that affects women and children. He points out that the issues of violence against women and young children are still prevalent today. He wants this day to be dedicated to reflecting and engaging with this issue.
“We will once again deeply implore God, whom we trust, to intervene in all the challenges faced by women and children,” he explained.
He expresses his desire for his music to impact greatly beyond what it does now. He expresses gratitude for the support he receives from Pastor Melusi Dladla of Family Church International, who provides immense assistance.
He gives credit for the courage and capability to Pastor Dladla for being a leader who knows how to stand firm. Among the artists who will be performing in the concert are Thobeka Jili, Dorcas Jeza, Mpumi Mtshweni, and the presenter of Khozi FM, Phindi P. The concert kicks off at 6 p.m., with tickets selling for R250.
